With over 10 years of research on developer productivity, experience, and flow, we know the challenges teams face in balancing effective collaboration with focused individual work.
Our tailored, evidence-based workshops help your team(s) enhance developer experience and achieve better flow at work.
Why are we support individuals and teams?
Everyday Challenges in Software Development Work
When studying developers' work, we constantly hear stories like this one:
«I sat down in the morning to finally implement the feature I’d been brainstorming for weeks. By lunch, I’d written just a single line of code. First, the junior developer needed mentoring on debugging. Then came several ‘quick questions’ from co-workers—most of which could have waited. By evening, the feature was still not done, and all I felt was frustration. It’s hard to stay excited about work when you can't get anything done.»
FlowLabs Consulting Framework
Evidence-based consulting that centers around the individuals & teams
In our experience, most development teams tend to think too much about technologies and tools when trying to optimize developer experience, thereby neglecting the actual individuals the challenges. Our workshops put the individuals into the center.

Tailoring Workshops to your Needs
Based on the Discovery step, we will work with you on tailoring 2 to 5 workshops based on your team's current needs and challenges.
Learn about good and bad workdays, and identify the gap between your ideal and actual workdays. At the end, each individual will have defined at least one concrete action to improve their own workday.
Learn about the different types of interruptions and their costs, and the team's most costly interruptions and preferences for communication. We will guide you to create a team agreement for managing interruptions.
Learn about the value of focused work and individual work rhythms. We will help you align individual preferences and rhythms towards a team work schedule.
Learn about productive versus horror meetings, and the cost of recurring as well as multi-tasking during meetings. Together, we will create an agreement on a more sustainable meeting culture.
Depending on your team's ability to balance collaboration and focused work, we might recommend deploying FlowTeams within your team. This workshop would introduce the team to the soft- and hardware.
